Kisii ex-governor James Ongwae on Friday dumped Azimio La Umoja and crossed over to President elect William Ruto camp. Ongwae was accompanied by a number of leaders from Nyamira and Kisii county who lost in the just concluded elections.
Ongwae move to join rival camp is not strange in political arena.

The ex-governor had banked on Raila Odinga victory in the just concluded elections. Ongwae hoped to be given key position in Raila government. The move to join Ruto is a tactical strategiy to remain relevant in politics and perhaps secure a slot in Ruto’s led government.

If there is something that has been giving ex-governor James Ongwae sleepless nights then it should be Governor Simba Arati tough war on ghost workers in Kisii County.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati last week flagged 861 ghost workers from the county government in a purge across all departments as he intensified the fight against corruption.
Speaking to the media, Arati put on notice all county workers without papers to brace for tough times amid a looming overhaul in various departments in the county.
Governor Aarti confirmed various realignments of departmental heads after irregularities were detected, especially in the Human Resource and Treasury dockets.
“I have caught them pants down, I’m sure they can’t run, there is nowhere to hide. I’m told there are those contemplating to resign but they must account for the sins they have committed,” Arati said.

“If you know you have been earning, please come to my office and ask for amnesty and we will give you. If we discover you didn’t have the papers, you have lied, you must be taken to court and refund the money which was meant for development and you have pocketed,” Arati added.
“I hope the officers of Twalib will help unearth the rot in Kisii. I am just a layman in the other areas of investigations and my deeds will end at the level of investigations when proper mechanisms are put to hold those capable to face the law. If EACC wants to fix the country, please, let it start with Kisii,” Arati stated.
