The Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs is currently undertaking a vetting exercise of the nominee for the position of Solicitor General, Hon Shadrack John Mose.
The Committee is chaired by Hon Gitonga Murugara (Tharaka).
This follows his appointment by President William Ruto on February 13th, 2023.

In a communication to the House, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula notified the House of the appointment ,which was made in exercise of powers conferred by Section 9(1) of the Office of the Attorney-General Act,2012, as read together with sections 3 and 5 of the Public Appointments (Parliament Approval)Act,2011.

He said JLAC was expected to conduct the hearings and table a report to the House within 28 days.
Mose,is the immediate former Member of Parliament for Kitutu Masaba Constituency, and advocate of the High Court.
He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Law ,from the Kenya School of Law, as well as a Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi.
If approved by National Assembly, Shadrack Mose will replace Kennedy Ogeto who was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, then in 2018.
