U.S HOUSE COMMITTEE MEMBERS LAUD DCI’s FIGHT AGAINST TRAFFICKING OF DRUGS AND WILDLIFE TROPHIES
Earlier today, the United States House Committee on Natural Resources paid a courtesy call to the DCI Director General of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, at his Mazingira Complex offices along Kiambu road.
The house committee, which is on an official visit to the country, sought to have a one on one conversation with the Director General, following the recent arrest of high profile suspects wanted for drugs smuggling and trafficking in wildlife trophies.
Led by the head of delegation Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz), the committee congratulated the DG for the Directorates’ concerted efforts in fighting the vice and putting crimes against endangered wildlife species under control.
Further, the committee members expressed their satisfaction in how sleuths from DCI’s Serious Crimes Unit, had handled the recent cases prompting the committee chair to pledge support to the Directorate in fighting similar crimes more effectively.
The Director General expressed his appreciation to the committee for its work, adding that its support was welcome as it would go a long way in assisting the Directorate curb the vice which had for a long time bedeviled many countries.
While acknowledging the commendation, the head of the Serious Crimes Unit noted that training of more sleuths, together with provision of more equipment would boost the fight against such crimes.
Later, the DG led the committee members in viewing several exhibits that have previously been confiscated while being trafficked to different destinations in the world.
