Kisii, March 06, 2025 – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended two men suspected of engaging in criminal activities in Daraja Mbili Estate, Kisii town, following a swift operation driven by credible intelligence.
The arrests, which took place at Texas Petrol Station, also led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and other incriminating items.
The suspects, identified as Gerald Nyambarika Okumu and James Ochieng, both aged 35, were intercepted while riding a blue TV Star motorcycle, registered as KMEK 866M.
Authorities allege the pair was fully prepared to carry out a criminal act when they were detained.
A meticulous search conducted by the detectives uncovered a Bernardelli model 60 pistol concealed by the rider, James Ochieng.
The weapon was loaded with five rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition.
Further inspection of the pillion passenger, Gerald Nyambarika Okumu, revealed additional evidence of their illicit intentions.
Detectives recovered four improvised metal bars designed to function as firearms, along with four mobile phones, items that strongly suggest the duo was planning to commit crimes in the area.
The two suspects are currently in police custody, where they are being processed as investigations continue.
The DCI has vowed to deepen its probe to determine whether the individuals are linked to other criminal activities in the neighborhood.
The seized items—including the pistol, motorcycle, metal bars, and mobile phones—have been secured as exhibits for the ongoing case.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities anonymously by calling the DCI hotline at 0800 722 203, emphasizing their slogan, #FichuaKwaDCI—encouraging citizens to come forward without fear (Usiogope!)
