Residents of South Mugirango took to the streets on Friday to protest the closure of Nduru Hospital, which was shut down by Governor Simba Arati following an attack on the doctors and nurses by an armed gang on Wednesday, April 12.
The protesters carried a patient to the South Mugirango NG-CDF Office seeking assistance from MP Silvanus Osoro.
The closure of the hospital has left residents of the area without access to essential healthcare services, prompting them to take action.
The attack on Nduru hospital staff led to the indefinite closure of the health institution two weeks ago, with union officials from the medical fraternity declaring that the hospital will not be opened until the safety of staff is guaranteed.

According to reports, the perpetrators of the attack were opposed to the relocation of medical equipment by some senior medical staff in the Kisii County Government.
They also vandalised the vehicle that was to be used to transfer the anesthesia machine to Keumbu Sub-County Hospital.
In response to the incident, Governor Arati condemned the thuggery and urged the authorities to arrest both the culprits and those who allegedly sponsored them to assault the medical officers.
The closure of Nduru hospital has left many residents of South Mugirango without access to essential healthcare services, which has put their lives at risk.
The residents are now calling on the government to ensure the safety of medical staff and to provide them with adequate security to enable them to continue serving the community
