Slain Nyamira Teacher Ezekiel George Nkeere Gitangwa Laid To Rest

Nyamira, Kenya, Jan 13- Ezekiel George Nkeere Gitangwa, The Headteacher who was murdered in Nyamira laid to rest at his home Village, Omorare in North Mugirango

Friday, 13th January 2023 marks the last day of the late Ezekiel Gitangwa on earth.The deceased was the head teacher at Getengereirie primary school in Borabu constituency, Nyamira County and a renowned football referee for local football tournaments.

His body was discovered in a nurse’s house in Egesieri village, Bonyaiguba Sub-Location, Nyamira County.

Hundreds of mourners, Family members, Teachers, close friends and Political  leaders turned out in large numbers  in giving the late Mwalimu Gitangwa a befitting send off.

KCB Manager Kisii, James Maganda who is also a brother to the late Ezekiel Gitangwa narrated the life of Gitangwa since his childhood upto to the day he breathed  his last breath.

The decomposing body of a missing primary school Head Teacher was Sunday evening discovered in a nurse’s house in Egesieri village, Bonyaiguba Sub-Location, Nyamira County.

Maganda said the late Ezekiel left his home at Nyabite on 30th December 2022 to Emcee a wedding at PAG Church Nyamira, but he never arrived at the venue, and didn’t return back to his home.

The incident raised many questions and fear among family members and friends. Gladys Achoki, wife to the deceased reported him missing at Nyamira police station. 

Maganda further revealed how a woman gave them a lead tip that helped much in finding of the body of Ezekiel.

The mutilated body was discovered in Egesieri village, in a one of the rooms used as a poultry house, covered with a purple carpet.

While addressing mourners at omorare Village Nakuru Town West Constituency MP Hon.Samuel Arama condemned the heinous act that led to the death of Gitangwa.

Arama said the nurse,  Agneta Agwata, who is the prime suspect should face similar consequences to that of taking the life of Mwalimu Gitangwa.

“It’s  heartbreaking to brutally murder a human being because of money. It seems there are evil spirits in Kisii.  Recently,  a young boy’s eyes were gouged out in Kisii.. something must be done”, Arama added

The City MP who is serving his third term expressed his confidence in the Counry Security team led by County Commissioner Michael Lesmam. 

” Lesmam was my DCC in my Constituency before he was promoted to serve as Nyamira County Commissioner. I strongly believe the perpetrators will be brought to book”, Arama said.

 
Speaking at the funeral, West Mugirango Constituency Lawmaker Stephen Mogaka condemned the heinous act and urged the security team to end the murder menace in Nyamira County. 

In a message directed to County Security team led by Commissioner Michael Lesmam, Hon Stephen Mogaka said West Mugirango is being turned into a murder zone. 

Mogaka recalled the murder of Our Lady of Mercy Rangenyo Girls Secondary School principal Lydia Onyoni.

According to reports, Onyoni had been found unconscious in her bedroom at 7pm.

She was rushed to Kisii Oasis Hospital where she was attended to until around 8pm when she passed on.

Mogaka also mentioned another unresolved murder case of Mong’are Mokua Nyaruri, a reporter for the private Weekly Citizen  who went missing on January 15 2009.

His decapitated body was found two weeks later, on January 29, in the Kodera Forest in western Nyanza province. His hands were bound, and marks were found on his back.

The two cases are unresolved upto date. 

The Jubilee Party Legislature also said that they will organise a meeting as Nyamira leaders with Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kindiki to end the Nyamira insecurity cases once and for all.

In a response to the County Commissioner,  North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko for the first time revealed his relationship with the former Interior Minister , Dr.Fred Matiang’i after the hotly contested August elections.
