A campaign car belonging to Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati’s team was on Saturday evening torched by supporters of ex-Transport CAS Chris Obure.
One person was reportedly killed during the ugly confrontation between the rival camps. The unfortunate incident occurred at Eburi in Bobasi, Kisii county.
Obure and Arati are both angling for the Kisii county gubernatorial seat on Jubilee and ODM party tickets respectively.
However Simba Arati has denied the allegations.
“My attention has been drawn to images doing rounds on social media purpoting that my supporters attacked occupants of a motor vehicle in Bobasi. I wish to categorically state that the allegations are not only baseless but cheap propaganda by our detractors who have sensed defeat at the ballot. We dismiss the allegations with the contempt they deserve and urge our supporters to continue fostering peace. #Inawezekana” Simba Arati posted on his Facebook page
Chris Obure also posted insinuating that the vehicle belongs to simba Arati campaign trail
“I am saddened to receive the shocking news of the passing on of James Moricho Ocharo following an incident this evening involving Motor Vehicle Registration KBX 519P which is said to have been part of a convoy of motor vehicles escorting one of the Gubernatorial candidates in Kisii County.
The departed hero was my village mate and neighbour who carried out his business at Iyabe Omosocho trading Centre.
I join the devastated mourners in conveying my personal condolences to the family of the deceased and pray to God to give them the courage to bear this sudden loss.
I take this opportunity to ask the Police at Itumbe Police Station to urgently carry out in-depth investigations to establish what led to this unfortunate incident.
In the meantime I wish speedy recovery for all those undergoing treatment at various hospitals for injuries sustained in this incident”, Chris Obure EGH on Facebook
