Shabana FC moved closer to promotion to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) with a 1-0 win over Kibera Blackstars in a National Super League (NSL) match at Gusii Stadium on Saturday.
The win takes Shabana to the top of the NSL table with 60 points, five points ahead of second-placed Murang’a Seal.
Shabana took the lead in the 45+2 minute through Peter Ogechi Maestro, who fired home a low shot from outside the box.
The home side dominated possession for most of the game but struggled to create clear-cut chances.

Kibera Blackstars had a chance to equalize in the second half but their striker, fired his shot wide from close range.
The win was a welcome boost for Shabana, who have been inconsistent in recent weeks.
The team has now won three of their last four matches and will be hoping to continue their good form in the run-in to the end of the season,six matches to go.
The match was attended by thousands of fans, including Azimio la Umoja Leader Raila Odinga, Governor Simba Arati, Senators Richard Onyonka and Okongo Omogeni, and Women Rep Dorice Aburi.
The match reunited Governor Simba Arati and Senator Richard Onyonka who haven’t been seeing eye to eye for some months now.
Raila Odinga congratulated Shabana FC on their win, saying it was an incredible afternoon of quality football.
