Alongside Shabana FC, several other football clubs were recognized and celebrated for their outstanding achievements in various competitions.
Murang’a Seal, the runners-up in the NSL, secured a commendable second-place finish and were rewarded with a prize money of KES. 2 million.
In the top tier, AFC Leopards faced a legal battle at FIFA, and the government extended a generous hand by providing KES. 5 million to aid them with the case involving coach Patrick , who was allegedly involved in a breach of contract.
Such support highlights the government’s commitment to promoting fairness and integrity in sports.
In other football competitions, Kakamega Homeboyz exhibited their prowess in the Mozzart Bet Cup and were rewarded with KES. 5 million for their triumphant victory.
Similarly, Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets showcased their dominance in the FKF Women’s Premier League and the Women’s Cup, respectively, each receiving a cash prize of KES. 5 million.
It was a momentous occasion as the government recognized the achievements of notable football clubs, including Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, Vihiga Queens, and Ulinzi Starlets, with a financial boost of KES. 5 million each.
The Cabinet Secretary’s Champions Reception held at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including CS Youth Affairs, the Arts, and Sports, Ababu Namwamba, PS Ismail Maalim, French Ambassador Arnaud Suquet, Indian High Commissioner H.E. Namgya Khampa, NOCK president Paul Tergat, and AK President Gen. Jackson Tuwei.
