Nairobi, August 14, 2023 – Former FKFPresidentSamNyamweya, has issued a cease and desist notice to the Governor of Kisii County, following allegations of unauthorized and damaging interference in the club’s operations.
The letter, which comes just a day after Shabana FC announced a Ksh 20 million partnership with Bangbet, was written by Mr. Sam Nyamweya, the duly elected patron of Shabana FC.
The legal notice, issued by LUSWETI and NABUTODA COMPANY on behalf of Mr. Nyamweya, accuses the Governor of continuous and malicious attempts to meddle with the club’s management and decision-making processes.

According to the letter, the Governor’s alleged involvement was imposed by individuals who are neither officials nor members of Shabana FC.
The letter further asserts that the Governor’s appointment as patron was carried out without proper compliance with the club’s internal procedures, raising questions about its legitimacy.
Mr. Nyamweya, in his capacity as the patron of Shabana FC, emphasizes that the football club is an independent entity devoid of political affiliations or connections.
While acknowledging the Governor’s position as the head of Kisii County, Mr. Nyamweya underscores that political authority does not grant the Governor the right to dictate or interfere with the affairs of Shabana FC.
The cease and desist letter also highlights concerns over the Governor’s alleged attempts to align Shabana FC with a specific political party, which the patron sees as an unwarranted and inappropriate action that runs counter to the club’s independent status.
In light of the alleged interference, the legal notice explicitly demands that the Governor immediately cease all actions, communications, or attempts to control or influence Shabana FC’s activities.
The letter warns that failure to comply with this demand will result in the initiation of legal proceedings against the Governor, without further notice.
The letter from Mr. Nyamweya’s legal representatives requests written confirmation of the Governor’s compliance within three days from the date of the notice.
It also cautions that any further attempts to interfere with Shabana FC’s operations will be met with legal consequences.
