Hussein Mohamed, the State House Spokesperson, announced President William Ruto’s upcoming visit to Germany and Belgium.
Mohamed highlighted the importance of the visit in strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and these countries and exploring opportunities for partnerships in key areas, particularly in renewable energy, green industrialization, and trade.
According to Mohamed, President Ruto’s visit to Berlin will include meetings with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The discussions will focus on renewable energy and the challenges of energy security in the face of the climate crisis, as well as vocational education and training for the youth.
The President is also expected to deliver a keynote address at the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, where he will highlight Kenya’s push for investments in renewable energy and green industrialization, and the role of Germany in supporting these efforts.
In Brussels, President Ruto will meet with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo to discuss mutual areas of interest, including health, food security, drought response, climate action, trade, and investment.
The President will also engage with the leadership of the European Union, including President of the European Union Council H.E. Charles Michel and President of the European Commission H.E. Ursula von der Leyen.
Mohamed emphasized that the discussions will reinforce Kenya’s commitment to the Kenya-EU Strategic Dialogue and deepen the partnership between Kenya and the European Union under the three key pillars of peace, security, and stability, sustainable and inclusive development, and economy, trade, and investment.
Overall, Hussein Mohamed expressed optimism about the visit and its potential to enhance cooperation between Kenya and these countries in renewable energy, green industrialization, and trade, as well as to further strengthen Kenya’s strategic partnerships with Germany and the European Union
