President William Ruto has responded to Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga claims of him rigging 2027 elections in 2022 by pushing ouster of the Cherera 4 IEBC commissioners. In a tweet, Ruto accused Raila of trying a coup to overturn the people’s will in the just concluded general elections.
“Even with the system/deep state you LOST the election.STOP deluding yourself & LYING.The coup to OVERTURN the PEOPLE’S will using rogue commissioners, you are now threatening us with maandamano about,FAILED.Their guilt or innocence will be determined by TRIBUNAL.RULE of LAW it is”, Ruto on Twitter.
The Azimio leader responded to the tweet later reminding President William Ruto the events of 2007, where the results from polling Stations were not tallying with the number of registered voters.
“Usijifanye leo hii kwamba umesahau when the shoe was firmly on the other foot. Let me just leave this here”, Raila Odinga added.
In the video, Ruto was complaining of the irregularities as the votes cast were more than registered voters. Ruto rejected the late Mwai Kibaki victory.
UDA Party National Chairman Johnston Muthama has responded to Raila’s plans to hold parallel Jamhuri day celebrations.
“The Mass Action Raila has called for on 7th and 12th December 2022 is a clear indication that he has failed to reconcile himself with the reality of the times we are living in, where every effort must be directed towards uplifting the lives of those who occupy the bottom of economic pyramid.I therefore, call upon every Kenyan to shun his attempts to cause disunity in this Country”, Muthama said in a tweet
However, Raila Odinga has planned a series of anti-government drives to be launched on December 7, and which could lead to a parallel Jamhuri Day celebration on December 12 as a vote of no confidence against President William Ruto’s administration.
Mr Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka recently chaired a coalition Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting in Nairobi, where the decision to launch anti-government pushbacks was endorsed.
Multiple sources at the meeting held at the SKM (Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka) centre in Karen, Nairobi, told the Nation that the PG discussed the possibility of holding a parallel national celebration on December 12, after the launch of the drive on December 7.
“The matter (of a parallel event) was indeed discussed as a follow-up to the December 7 event, but the leadership agreed to examine it and make a decision,” said a source that was at the Karen meeting.
Another source said: “Some leaders were, however, of the opinion that Jamhuri Day is an important national event that ought not to be destabilised.”
