Residents of Nyamira County on Tuesday woke up with bad news of passing of industrious Principal of Rangenyo Girls High school, Madam Lydia Onyoni.
Preliminary reports indicate that Madam Lydia Onyoni, Principal Rangenyo Girls High school died under unclear circumstances on Monday evening at Oasis Hospital Kisii Town. Her body is preserved at Kisii Teaching and Refferal Mortuary.

No report yet to the cause of her death even though netizens are speculating that Lydia Onyoni was attacked by thugs.

Edward Onyancha of Minto Fm also confirmed the news of the sudden death of Madam Onyoni.
“It is True Madam Onyoni Principal Rangenyo Girls High school has died in unknown circumstances this Evening in Oasis Hospital Kisii Town Body Preserved at Kisii Teaching and Refferal Mortuary, tension in the school currently”
Nyamira County Governor Amos Nyaribo together with County Commissioner Michael Lesmam on Monday issued a presser in regards to the cases increased cases of insecurity in Ekerenyo and Borabu.
Governo Nyaribo said that cases of cattle theft have been reported at Borabu, criminals broke into Mokomoni health facility, and elsewhere unknown goons attacked Mzee Onguso at his residence in Ekerenyo.
The governor later issued a statement on the security meeting;
“Today afternoon I held a security consultative meeting with the County security team led by Nyamira County Commisioner Michael Lesmam. Top on the agenda was to strategize on how to safeguard lifes and livelihoods of our people.
This is as a result of the rise in recent criminal activities reported in Borabu, Nyamira North and some parts of Nyamira South Sub Counties.
I therefore urge our people to give crucial information which will aid our security agencies in nabbing criminals who are on the loose terrorising and mugging hardworking Kenyans of their livehoods. Lives matter therefore we ought to be our neighbours keeper.”
Commissioner Michael Lesmam on his part warned the criminals, and said that the security team will conduct an operation in Borabu and Ekerenyo to ensure the culprits are brought to book. Commissioner Lesmam also urged the media to report the truth as it is to avoid causing unnecessary panic.
