Keroka, Kenya– President William Ruto on August 13, 2024 officially opened the Keroka Level 4 Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the provision of quality healthcare services to residents of Nyamira County and the neighboring regions.
The newly expanded facility is set to offer a range of specialized services, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Orthopedic Surgery, Dentistry, and General Surgery.
The expansion of Keroka Hospital is expected to greatly enhance its capacity to serve the local community.
Currently, the hospital caters to approximately 70,000 outpatients and 5,000 in-patients annually, with around 1,500 mothers delivering their babies at the facility each year.
The recent upgrade will triple the hospital’s capacity, enabling it to better meet the growing healthcare needs of the region.
During the inauguration, President Ruto emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure across the country.
In his address, he directed the contractor responsible for the expansion to construct a perimeter wall around the facility, enhancing security for both patients and staff.

Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo also addressed the crowd gathered in Keroka Town, urging President Ruto to consider further improvements to the facility.
He highlighted the need for additional amenities, including a modern kitchen, laundry area, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), mortuary, and a modern market to serve the town’s residents and traders.
Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo said newly furnished Keroka Level 4 Hospital will significantly improve access to Universal Healthcare Coverage for the people of Nyamira and surrounding counties.
He added that with well equipped Mother and Child Unit, Outpatient and Surgical units, we can’t thank the government enough.
“We are extremely delighted to host H.E. President William Ruto in Kitutu Masaba for the second day consecutively. The face-lift of Keroka Level 4 Hospital was long overdue. This is in fulfilment of constitutional dictates of access to quality healthcare.” He said
Further, Gisairo requested H.E. President William Samoei Ruto to consider the construction of 5 kilometres of tarmack within Keroka Municipality.
This will promote trade besides enticing investors to the town. I did also request that an ambulance to be part of the equipment provided to ensure that emergencies can be reached in time to save lives.
Nominated MP Irene Mayaka requested President Ruto to install public wifi at Keroka to enable youths do digital jobs.
