His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday evening was hosted on radio and television stations that broadcast in Central Kenya dialects for a live interview at State House, Nairobi.
The President took his time to explain the successes of his administration since 2013 and what he has done to his people.
“Even those who say the handshake changed things in government. Is there anyone I fired from their job?” President Uhuru Kenyatta side.
The Head of State also said that democracy has been embraced under his tenure. “Even in terms of democracy, there has been freedom of expression under my leadership.Even you journalists, some of the stations you are working for were non-existent in 2013. Under my reign, freedoms have been there and have been expressed” Uhuru charged.
H.E Uhuru Kenyatta lightly weighed in on the BBI issue saying if people had agreed to pass the BBI, the people from Mt Kenya would have benefited the most.
President Uhuru Kenyatta maintains that he has built more roads than the colonial government, and the administrations of Mzee Kenyatta, Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki. Uhuru says he has built more than 11,000 km of tarmac roads since 2013.
Further the President says even after retire he will still be around. “There is nowhere I’m going, I’m just leaving this seat (the Presidency) to someone else” Uhuru added
According to the President, Propaganda and lies by his critics made him not achieve what he has intended to.”If there is any regret I have is that propaganda and lies made us not attain a different level as a nation” Uhuru said.
“My biggest success aside from maintaining the country’s peace is developing infrastructure because even whatever those who will be getting into office are promising you right now, it will not be capable without good infrastructure” President Uhuru Kenyatta to the people of Mt Kenya
President Uhuru Kenyatta whether he will miss State House: “This is just a house, maybe I’ll just miss the people I was working with”
President Uhuru Kenyatta hopes the Incoming regime may revive BBI. “If there is one regret I have is that the BBI did not go through… and I hope to work with whoever comes in to realize it” Uhuru said.
