Pacificah Nyakerario; main suspect in Baby Sagini heinous attack has been ferried to Kisii police station from Nairobi.
Nyakerario, 60 years will appear before court for custodial orders.
She’s the mother to Maina Ochogo who was arrested on Sunday evening by the DCI sleuths.
On Sunday, Police arrested Maina who is another main suspect in the incident where a 3 year old boy’s eyes gouged out by unknown assailants in Kisii County
Police investigators say Maina and his Mother Pacifica gouged out Baby Sagini’s eyes to be used as ritual after the two had conspired in December 2021 and killed his father.
A report by Citizen.Digital indicates that Sagini was scheduled to be released on Sunday, per the doctor’s recommendation
Three other suspects connected to the incident – a form 3 student from a local school, a middle-aged man and a woman- went through a 10-hour interrogation before being released on Sunday evening.
Baby Sagini was found dumped at his family’s banana plantation on Thursday with his face covered with blood after being kidnapped on Wednesday evening.
The minor was rushed to the Kisii Eye Hospital where he is recuperating in the general ward after a surgical procedure
Maureen Nyaboke, the mother of 3-year-old Junior Sagini, will also he charged with Chold neglect.
According to police records, 28-year-old Nyaboke, left the little Sagini and her 7-year-old daughter in the care of their father and paternal grandmother.
She went to work as a bar attendant in Nyamakoroto, Nyamira county, when the bizarre attack occurred on Wednesday.
It was also the first time Sagini’s mother was visiting the Kisii Eye Care facility where her son has been coming to terms with the cruel reality of having to remain blind for the rest of his life after he fell prey to his attackers while fetching water at a nearby river.
Just as Nyaboke was preparing to leave the hospital, Police pounced on her, detaining her at Nyanchwa police station where she was booked under OB no. 33/18/12/2022 before transferring her to Rioma police station for further questioning.
Three other persons, including a form 3 student from a local school, middle aged man and a woman have also been arrested in connection to the incident.
The three went through a 10 hour interrogation before being released on Sunday evening.
Investigators also processed Sagini’s home in Ikuruma village, for potential additional traces of exhibits, collecting a metallic rod for examination.
On Sunday, Kisii Governor Simba Arati visited Baby Sagini at Kisii Eye Hospital and cleared the medical bills of Ksh 100,000.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and MP Japhet Nyakundi have offered to fly Baby Sagini To China for a possible Eye transparent. Sonko said he has identified an eye hospital and was expecting Sagini in Nairobi today.
