Speaking during the distribution of learners books and teachers guides, Machogu said over 20,000 are expected to host Junior secondary school students Read Application For Deployment From Primary To Junior Secondary School 2023
CS Ezekiel Machogu on Friday flagged off the distribution of a total of 17,893,270 copies of Learner’s Books and 423,514 copies of Teacher’s Guides for Grade 7 under the Competence Based Curriculum system of education at KICD.
The CS said reporting of the cohort of the junior secondary school learners starts on Monday 30th January 2023.
Machogu said that the government is proud to run the distribution exercise which is expected to be completed next week.
“The number of primary schools which will be hosting junior secondary schools according to our assessment are over 20,000”, Machogu said.
The Education Cabinet Secretary reiterated that few Schools will serve as a feeder schools to those that will be over in junior secondary school.
The government is committed to ensure that all grade 7 learners have adequate teaching materials as directed by His Excellency the Pesident of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto.
“I must emphasise that the ministry of education has consistently distributed CBC textbook for learners in the grade 1 to 6 annually to ensure the policy of one book for every student in every subject is met”, Machogu noted.
The ministry is determined to sustain the tradition of effective and distribution of textbook to all our junior and senior secondary school to ensure quality teaching and learning.
CS urged all parents and guardians of grade 7 to ensure that their children report to schools on monday to start over there next level of learning promptly.
The Ministry of Education will release interim guidelines to all schools and field officers to guarantee a smooth start of the Junior secondary school education learning.
The ministry has also sent out a circular that provides the context of implementing the guidelines and steps of rolling out the CBC.
These attest the government’s commitment to provide accessible quality and relevant education and training to each citizen through credible academic reforms.
This is in line with the serious policies on education and training.
