Gusii unity received a major boost after a meeting held at the Bomas of Kenya on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
The meeting was held at the Bomas of Kenya to thank the Gusii people for their prayers towards Hon. Ezekiel Machogu‘s appointment as Cabinet Secretary after a Thanksgiving ceremony was held at Getacho, Nyaribari Masaba in Kisii County.
The event was graced by President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
The meeting was attended by key professionals, elected leaders, and corporate gurus, and South Mugirango MP Hon. Silvanus Onyiego Osoro, who doubles as the National Assembly Majority Chief Whip, was endorsed to represent the elected leaders from Gusii in their professional Caucus.
The team is comprised of senior servants from Gusii, led by Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, the Cabinet Secretary for Education.
Elected leaders who attended the function include Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi, who also doubles as the National Treasurer of United Democratic Alliance, West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka, and Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi.
Hon. Osoro also took the chance to bring apologies from absent leaders who were engaged in various duties and could not attend.
Osoro thanked the professionals for their unity and the move to endorse Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to be the patron of the Professional caucus.
The team’s leadership includes Chief Administrative Secretary, Foreign Affairs, Joash Maangi, as its Chairman, Football Kenya Federation Emeritus President Sam Nyamweya, as its Vice Chairman, KenGen Board Chairman Migosi Ogamba, as its Secretary, Businessman George Machuka, as its Treasurer, Prof. Jane Nyakang’o as its Deputy Secretary, and Bomas of Kenya Chief Executive Officer Peter Gitaa Koria as its Organising Secretary.

Additionally, five Vice-Chancellors from various universities and various board members attended the meeting.
The meeting also saw political veterans attend the meeting, including Former Governor James Ongwae, Former Bonchari MP Hon. Zebedeo John Opore, Former Bobasi MP Hon. Stephen Kengere Manoti, Former Kitutu Chache North MP Hon. Jimmy Angwenyi, and GDC Chairman Hon. Walter Osebe Nyambati.
Dr. Joseph Mogendi Birundu (JKUAT) also attended the meeting to represent the business leaders.
Gusii Council of elders also attended the fete led by their Patron Steve Omenge, while the private sector alliance was represented by Hon. Chris Bichage, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Nairobi Hospital Council
