Nyamira County Senator SC Okong’o Omogeni now says Raila Odinga is likely to loose his support from the larger community of Gusii for not considering them in the Senate and Parliament positions.
It must not be forgotten that the Raila-led Coalition enjoyed support from Kisii and Nyamira Counties in the last General Election, winning majority of seats including Senators and Governors.
Despite overwhelmingly rallying support behind Azimio la Umoja, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni now says that leaders from that region have been left out in power sharing in the Coalition.

Speaking at a funeral in Nyamira County, Omogeni has slammed Wetangula for the declaring Kenya Kwanza Coalition the Majority in the National Assembly and has threatened to seek for justice in a Court of Law.
In his ruling, Speaker Wetangula said Kenya Kwanza has 179 members in the National Assembly against Azimio coalition party’s 157.
He said no member was elected or nominated to Parliament on an Azimio ticket, but rather those of the various constituent parties that make up the coalition party.
“In the last General Election, it is evident that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya elected to behave as several political parties in certain categories of elections, and as one political party with regard to the election of the president. It is without doubt that if it were to be considered as a political party, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party has no elected member in this House today, as no member was elected under its banner,” he said.
“Further, it is notable that with respect to the members nominated to this House, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party elected to nominate members under the names of its constituent parties. The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party seems to have elected to enter this House in both elective and nominative positions through its individual constituent parties. What is clear from the Constitution is that the leader of the majority party must lead either a party or a coalition of parties in the National Assembly, and not both.”
In his statement, Omogeni has also blamed Azimio for failing to consider people from the Gusii region. The legislature has also said he is likely to walk out of the Coalition in future if Azimio fails to consider his cry.
