NYAMIRA COUNTY, Kenya – In a bid to bolster community sports and cultural infrastructure, Nyamira County has earmarked Ksh 36,787,247 for the Department of Gender, Sports, and Culture in the 2024/25 fiscal year.
The allocation was revealed in the Report of the Committee on Budget and Appropriations, chaired by Bogichora Ward MCA George Morara Abuga.
Major Allocations and Projects-Manga Stadium
- Inner Wall, Technical Area, Water Pump, Plumbing, Security Gates, and Other Works: Ksh 5,000,000 has been allocated for these enhancements, aiming to elevate the stadium’s functionality and safety standards.
- Pavilion Fittings: Another Ksh 5,000,000 has been set aside for the stadium’s pavilion, promising improved amenities for spectators and participants alike.
Rigoma Stadium
- Drainage Works Contribution: Ksh 500,000 has been allocated to assist with essential drainage works, ensuring the stadium remains operational during the rainy season.
- Comprehensive Upgrades: An additional Ksh 1,000,000 will be spent on drainage, sheds, offices, and toilets, further modernizing the facility to cater to local sports teams and events.
Pending Bills and Obligations:
The department will address outstanding financial commitments amounting to Ksh 13,287,247, ensuring continuity and financial health of ongoing projects.
Nyamaiya Playground
- Perimeter Wall Construction: In Nyamaiya Ward, Ksh 8,000,000 has been allocated for the construction of a perimeter wall around the playground, enhancing security and delineating the sports facility.
Omokirondo Sports Training Centre:
- Construction in Itibo Ward: The county has set aside Ksh 4,000,000 for the establishment of the Omokirondo Sports Training Centre, aimed at nurturing young athletic talent and providing a dedicated training space.
