Nyamira, Kenya, Tuesday 2, 2024- Nyamira County’s Committee on Budget and Appropriations, chaired by Bogichora ward MCA George Moraa Abuga, has recommended a substantial budget of Ksh 2,478,027,455 for development expenditure for the Financial Year 2024/25.
The proposed budget outlines allocations across various sectors, reflecting the county’s strategic priorities and commitment to sustainable development.
The County Assembly has been allocated Ksh 226 million, while Finance and Accounting Services will receive Ksh 3 million.
Crop Development has been earmarked Ksh 168,440,937, and Environment, Natural Resources, and Mining will get Ksh 251,960,133.
In the education sector, Ksh 91,704,961 has been set aside for Education and Vocational Training. Medical Support Services are set to receive a significant allocation of Ksh 489,104,169.
Lands, Housing, and Urban Development will be funded with Ksh 136,021,362, and Water and Sanitation is allocated Ksh 66,210,346.
The infrastructure sector is set to receive a significant boost with Roads, Transport, and Public Works headed by CECM Jones Omwenga being allocated Ksh 580,210,346. This allocation is expected to improve road networks and public infrastructure, enhancing connectivity and accessibility within the county.
Additionally, Trade, Co-operative, and Tourism Development will be allocated Ksh 34,922,830, while Gender, Sports, and Culture will receive Ksh 36,787,247.
Public Service Management has been allocated Ksh 13 million, and the Nyamira Municipality Board will receive Ksh 98,360,103.
The County Attorney will get Ksh 4,987,040, and Economic Planning, Resources Mobilization, and ICT is allocated Ksh 41,532,056.
Livestock and Fisheries Services will receive Ksh 20,643,232, while Primary Health Services are set to receive Ksh 44,019,022.
Lastly, the Keroka Municipality Board will be allocated Ksh 171,123,322. Keroka Town was elevated to a Municipality early January this year, a push by Area MCA Nyambega Gisesa
