TSC is responsible for governing teachers in Kenya and determining their salaries.
In addition to their salaries, TSC teachers receive various allowances such as housing, commuter, and risk allowances, which can increase their total monthly income.
TSC teachers also receive benefits such as medical insurance, gratuity, and pension, funded by the government.
The TSC has now revealed the new salary scale for teachers who will teach in Junior Secondary Schools, and these teachers will start at job grade C2 with a basic salary scale of sh 34,955 at a minimum and sh 43,694 at a maximum per month.
The TSC also announced the criteria for teachers to teach in junior secondary schools.
P1 teachers who have a diploma in education and above will be deployed to handle learners in junior secondary schools.
TSC primary school teachers with higher academic qualifications but who have not secured promotion as per CPG will also be given priority to teach in junior secondary schools.
Moreover, the TSC has revealed the salary scale for newly deployed Junior Secondary School Principals.
They will receive a basic salary of sh 34,955, a house allowance of sh 7,500 (for other areas), a hardship allowance of sh 10,900, a commuter allowance of sh 5,000, and a leave allowance of sh 6,000 (paid only in January).
