Kisii, Kenya — Ndizi TV, a prominent media station in the Gusii region, has officially signed off, concluding a vibrant three-year era that provided a platform for young journalists, many of whom were under 30.
The closure comes as a significant moment for the local media landscape, particularly for emerging talent.
Among the exiting staff is Job Maangi, a distinguished news anchor and program host who has become a recognizable figure in Gusii media.
Maangi joined Ndizi TV in 2022 as an intern during a pivotal election period, quickly rising through the ranks due to his dedication and skill.
A graduate of communication and media technology from Maseno University, he started as a reporter for Nyamira County even before completing his studies.
Maangi’s signature signing-off slogan, “Job Maangiiii,” captured the attention of viewers and solidified his brand within the community.
His expertise in reporting, camera work, and audiovisual editing—skills honed during his academic tenure—helped him stand out in a competitive environment.
By early 2024, after a wave of departures to a new television station, Maangi ascended to the roles of news anchor, program host, and senior reporter.
He hosted the highly successful morning show “Ensakia,” which translates to “the morning sunshine,” airing weekdays from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
Under his leadership, the program became the region’s top breakfast show, featuring a diverse range of guests and driving impactful discussions that resonated with audiences both locally and internationally.
In addition to “Ensakia,” Maangi hosted the “Omogano One” program, where he interviewed guests from various fields including politics, business, and sports.
The show’s increasing popularity led to its transformation into “Omoganoito,” focusing on stories from higher learning institutions in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
