Nakuru, Kenya, Jan 26- Nakuru County CECM for Education Zipporah Wangui Presides over the Launch of Feeding the Future programme in Subukia.
The County Executive Committee Member for education on Thursday launched the Feeding the Future programme at Sidai Primary School in Subukia sub-county.
Governor Susan Kihika was expected to grace the event but she was held up in the Council of Governors meeting with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The Feeding the Future programme is funded by Organisation and seeks to address needy cases of hunger from local communities by incorporating nutrition and will benefit 300 pupils in pre-primary and primary levels from Munanda Community.
The initiative comes at the time when a number of families are struggling due to adverse effects of drought and harsh economic conditions.
The CECM expressed her commitmentย to education through a unique ECDE feeding programme that will be launched soon.
The Feeding the Future organisation’s County Chair Peterson Githinji hailed efforts made by the Departments of Education and Resource Mobilization.
Mr Githinjiย affirmed their commitment to collaborate with the County Government of Nakuru in regards to education and development matters.
Present at the eventย were Chief officer Education John Koech, CO Resource mobilization Pastor Alex Maina, County assembly education Committee led by vice chairman George Nene, Hellen Chemtai Megek and the host MCA Ms Isabella Makori.
