Hon. Musalia Mudavadi on Monday morning was vetted by National Assembly Committee for the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary.
In his opening remarks, Musalia Mudavadi said that he takes this initial appearance as being critical so that the country can exit from the election mode and start looking at serious service delivery to the people of Kenya.
The former vice President Musalia added that he was appointed the Minister of Finance when the Goldberg saga was coming to its full-blown situation. There was a commission of inquiry under President Mwai Kibaki for 2 years,He was exonerated and was lauded for dismantling the networks.
In responding to Speaker Moses Wetangula question,ย Musalia Mudavadi said that hisย financial net worth is about Ksh. 4B. Rental income, dividends and interests are his current sources of income.
MP Opiyo Wandayi linked Mudavadi to land grabbing, claims that He rubbished. ” I have not been linked to any land-grabbing scandal. I stayed in Woodley and to this day we pay rent to Nairobi County. EACC at the time went on a tangent that they had not confirmed & I even filed a suit on defamation. In my view, it was a witch-hunt at that time”.
Hon.Wandayi also opined that the position of Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary is not anchored on any law hence illegal. However, Mudavadi said that there are issues that can be executed by the President through the executive order. The president constitutionally has the powers to set up his government and assign functions to his Cabinet Secretaries or other persons in government. Therefore, President William Ruto never breached any law.
“I did say there were some good and toxic things about the BBI. It was a good document mixed with some toxic aspects. The reorganising of govt could be done at a less cost without going to certain levels. I never misled anybody about this issue”, Musalia replied Hon.Wandayi.
Further Hon. Musalia Mudavadi said it does not mean if one has lost an election they cannot serve the nation in another capacity
