Mbita Constituency Member Of Parliament Millie Mabona Odhiambo on Tuesday opined on Her Facebook page that working with IEBC as a Presiding or Returning Officer is good but very dangerous.
“I wrote this on the 13th of August. I forgot to add that it is not only dangerous being a PO but being an RO as well. Unless of course, decisive action is taken to discourage this trend. Two ROs have died since. That’s Embakasi East and Gichugu Sub Counties” Millie said.

She further said the most “lucrative” but also dangerous position during these and other elections going forward is that of the Presiding Officer.
Hon.Mabona says even though she won with a comfortable margin of almost 10 000 votes, her votes were still stolen using the Presiding offices. For instance in Ugina polling station in Mfangano, she trounced her opponent. The results were announced and relevant forms signed even by her agents but the PO arrived at the tallying centre with converted results signed by new fictitious agents.

She further explained how the rigging happened. “So say if I had 310 and my opponent 10, what is read is that I had 10 and my opponent 310. Even though some are even laughable, the RO has to then determine how to deal. What was declared and signed by agents is different from what the PO emerges with after taking hours to reach the pollying centre” Millie charged
MP Millie Odhiambo also said in another polling centre Kamasengre where she had won, the PO sealed everything in the ballot box and dissapeared. The results could not be read. This happened in a number of stations and probably costed her close to 2000 votes.
