Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr.Fred Matiang’i has dismissed NCIC’s proposal to suspend Facebook for allegedly failing to flag hate content in the run-up to August 9, 2022 General Election. Matiang’i bashed the idea that Facebook will be shut down. He reiterated that Kenya is a  democratic state and freedom of speech is the bedrock of the same.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on Friday, July 29 said Facebook, a social media platform owned by American company Meta, had contravened hate prevention guidelines in Kenya.

The NCIC said it had asked Facebook to respond to its concerns, but the social networking platform ignored its numerous letters.

The former Education Minister fellowshiped with faithfuls in Sororwe Camp centre-Bokeira, N.Mugirango. He was in the company of PS. Momanyi- Physical planning, Eng. Nyabuto, KenHA, Gov.Amos Nyaribo, Hon. Isaac Atebe, Prof Ken Nyaundi, Qs. Nyakeongora, Architect Rioba, DCC -N.mugirango among other dignitaries.

CS Matiang’i led the crowd in praying for a peaceful election, and urged the people of Nyamira  to elect leaders that uphold highest levels of integrity.,arguing that whatever leader our people chose, if the said leader has zero interest for the people then that is pointless.

Further, Matiang’i and leaders present drummed support for the Azimio Movement terming a political formation with our people’s best interests at heart. “Our President has shown us direction,as a community we shall follow that direction”, Matiang’i added.

Gov.Amos Nyaribo cemented his support for Raila Odinga and encouraged Nyamira people to turn up in Large numbers on August 9 and  vote Blue for Azimio for the gusii nation to stand counted when sharing the national cake.

Dr.Matiang’i specifically lauded Hon. Atebe for setting an impeccable record during his time in the public service. He termed him a diligent leader and a true epitome of change. Matiang’i formally endorsed him for the North Mugirango Parliamentary seat.

Further Dr. Fred Matiang’i and company promised to buy iron sheets for the church and donated a whooping ksh. 200,000 for the camp funding

On his Part,Hon.Atebe urged people to support Gov. Nyaribo and Rt.Hon.Raila Odinga for our country to be resuscitated from economic pilferage orchestrated by cartels in government. He humbly requested the recharged crowd to vote for him come August 9.
