Dr Fred Matiang’i hustled his way up the radar from a classroom teacher to a Cabinet Secretary & now the undisputed Kenya’s “MR FIX IT ” after handling ICT, Lands, Education, & now the Interior Ministry with exemplary performance.
Its no doubt that Dr Fred Matiangi distinguished his name and will be remembered for generations to come.
Every department of Kenyan state MATIANGI touched, he left no stone unturned.
At the helm of the Ministry of Education, Dr Fred Matiang’i dismantled KCSE examination cartels that had undermined the credibility of the Kenyan education system through massive examination leakages.
Matiangi centralized the issuance of textbooks from the ministry of education and improved access to course books by learners in Kenya on the ratio of 1:1 which is now a game changer in the performance of learners

Similarly, Matiangi presided over the digital migration from the analogue system while at the Ministry of ICT amidst stiff resistance from private media owners. This gave Kenyans opportunities to enjoy viewership from many TV channels.
In the spirit of buying Kenya- build Kenya, Dr Matiang’i instructed that police and provincial administrator’s uniforms will be made in Kenya. This was a masterstroke decision that led to a revival of textile industries at the same time leading to the opening of new ones. A good example of this is Kitui textiles currently making the chiefs’ uniforms.
Dr Matiang’i presided over the digitization of the Occurrence Book (OB) in the police service. This is one of the critical reforms that were needed in the police sector. The Digitization of OB has enhanced supervision of Police operations in the field from the Commanders level and made every police officer more accountable to the Kenyan people. This has led to a more effective, efficient and responsive service.
Dr Matiang’i also instructed that applicants for identity cards and birth and death certificates will have their documents processed in less than a day or two.
During Dr Matiangi’s tenure as the head of the security docket, he oversaw a landmark reform of transforming the police force into police service. This has greatly impacted the civilian-police relationship as the two can coexist perfectly.
Elsewhere terrorism has diminished considerably due to the various changes Dr Matiangi initiated in the counter-terrorism department. In addition to civic education that police officers undertook in the epicentre of terrorism marred the region. For that sir, we thank you, sir.
Lest we forget the improved care package that he extended to our men and women in uniform. Which range from counselling services to our estranged and officers in depression. Indeed this is a humanely act toward our sons and daughters. Kudos Sir.
Recently Dr Matiangi commissioned a world-class forensic laboratory, the first in East and Central Africa. This facility will help curb cybercrime, cyberbullying and money laundering
The list of his transformative leadership is endless.
Transformative leadership requires a leader who is bold, decisive and resilient amidst resistance from pessimists. And these are the qualities of Dr Matiang’i that make him stand out.
Considering the fact that Kenya is a blessed country with young, vibrant and dedicated youth, there is a need for a leader who can transform this critical labour force into a gem for economic development and prosperity.
Dr Matiangi is a hallmark of hope to many Kenyans, in the wake of public service which is characterised by incompetency, corruption and chronic absenteeism. May generations follow in his footsteps.

We sincerely, thank Dr Matiangi service to Kenya. You have done us proud and we will forever be indebted to you. Today you leave Kenya better than you found it. You have left indelible marks in our lives and we wish and hope whoever takes from you will fit in those footprints of yours.
