
Representatives from five LREB counties on Friday visited Zipline drone operations in Rwanda ahead of the anticipated launch of operations in Kisumu, to serve 14 LREB counties.
The team was led by respective Governors, Excellency James Ongwae (Kisii), Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o (Kisumu), and Amos Nyaribo (Nyamira).
The drones are currently being used to transport blood and blood products, vaccines, and emergency supplies eg anti-snake venom.
This techology is anticipated to revolutianalize availability of medical products and animal genetic products in the counties.
The LREB counties are in the process of having this implemented in the region to save lives and minimize wastages. Currently, sensitization is ongoing for health workers across the region to understand how the technology works before full deployment.

Governor Amos Nyaribo says sensitization of health workers in his county has been planned for the week of 20th June 2022. This is part of the steps that have been undertaken to improve availability of blood and blood products for emergency care and minimize mortality related to inefficiencies in blood supply system in the region.
“Next month, I will officially commission Nyamira Satellite Blood Bank in Nyamaiya Health Center”,Nyaribo added.
The Governors were accompanied by Prof Richard Muga (representing Governor Homabay) , Dr Felicia Moraa (representing Governor Kakamega). Also in the visit were Dr Gregory Ganda (Kisumu), Dr Magara (Nyamira) Victor Nyagaya (CEO LREB)
