The Kitutu Masaba leaders, led by prominent Business Mogul Robinas Makana, have expressed their strong disapproval of Governor Amos Nyaribo’s decision to dismiss the Health County Executive Committee Member (CECM), Dr. Ombati Mokua, without conducting due diligence.
Robinas Makana, a well-respected figure in Kitutu Masaba, voiced his concerns, emphasizing that the Governor should have taken the time to thoroughly investigate the matter before making such a consequential decision
Speaking to the Media on September 10, 2023, Makana said that Dr. Ombati’s dismissal is unjust, malicious, and politically motivated, potentially driven by Governor Nyaribo’s personal ambitions
Makana stressed the importance of due process and transparency in dealing with matters that affect the well-being of the county’s residents, especially in the crucial field of healthcare.
Former councillor Gisemba openly commended the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) for initiating an impeachment motion against Governor Nyaribo.
Gisemba’s endorsement of this action reflects the growing sentiment that the Governor has failed to fulfill his mandate and uphold the trust placed in him by the electorate.
Gisemba did not mince words in his criticism, stating that Governor Nyaribo’s tenure has been marked by shortcomings and unfulfilled promises.
Another prominent voice in the controversy, Victor Mobegi, provided a perspective on the situation by highlighting the fact that procurement and other administrative processes typically do not fall under the purview of a minister.
Mobegi argued that the decision to terminate Dr. Ombati’s career appeared to be a politically motivated witch hunt rather than a genuine concern for proper governance.
Ombati dismissa
Makana argues that matters concerning procurement, receiving, storage, dispatching, and the management of pharmaceutical commodities fall under the jurisdiction of the County’s procurement unit, not the dismissed CECM Health.
Therefore, the public is left to question whether Dr. Ombati’s dismissal was grounded in an official auditor’s report or if it appears more as a means for Governor Amos Nyaribo to settle personal scores.

Governor Nyaribo’s dismissal of Hon. Arama’s prior concerns regarding pharmaceutical procurement and supply, where health facilities faced drug shortages, raises eyebrows.
The Governor’s dismissal of these concerns as a witch hunt may suggest that Hon. Arama’s allegations held merit from the outset.
The Abagetutu Community’s Perspective:
The impact of these unfolding events on the marginalized Abagetutu community within Governor Nyaribo’s administration cannot be ignored.
Many view Dr. Ombati’s dismissal as unjust, malicious, and politically motivated, potentially driven by Governor Nyaribo’s personal ambition.
“As both the Abagetutu community and Nyamira County as a whole, we demand clarity on whether Dr. Ombati’s removal was based on the auditor’s findings or a personal vendetta.” Says Makana.
Furthermore, Makana said that if the Governor’s allegations of lying are true, then, in the spirit of transparency and accountability, he should equally take responsibility for misleading the people of Nyamira County, which would demand his resignation.
“We stand in solidarity with the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) of Nyamira County, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the unfair dismissal of Dr. Ombati. As residents of Nyamira, we eagerly await the next steps taken by the MCAs, who strongly condemned Governor Amos Nyaribo’s actions.”
The Bursary Saga:
Makana also said that it’s no secret that the Governor’s office has been accused of issuing non-existent County bursaries, a concern raised by numerous MCAs.
“We call upon the relevant authorities, such as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth for the people of Nyamira.”
Finally, Makana on behalf of the Abagetutu community issued Governor Nyaribo a 48-hour ultimatum to reconsider the unfair dismissal or face consequences.
“Should the Governor fail to address these concerns satisfactorily, we urge the Members of County Assembly, led by the Speaker and other stakeholders, to hold Governor Amos Nyaribo accountable.”
On August 6, at Rangenyo Parish, Makana issued a strong statement directed towards Governor Amos Nyaribo regarding the drug scandal.
In this statement, Makana drew attention to the millions worth of drugs flagged off at the County Headquarters that mysteriously never reached health facilities across the county.
As of the latest developments, over 28 MCAs have signed an impeachment motion against the Governor, accusing him of corruption and mismanagement of the county.
This action comes on the heels of the health minister’s firing, with MCAs insisting that the Governor should step aside to allow for a thorough investigation.
