Kisii, February 22, 2025 – Kisii School solidified their dominance in the Kisii Central Sub-County Handball Tournament, organized by the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA), held on February 20-21 at Kisii School.
The two-day event delivered electrifying action, culminating in Kisii School’s boys’ team clinching the title with a commanding 31-15 victory over Nyanchwa Boys in the final, while Kereri Girls claimed the girls’ championship with a 23-9 triumph over Nyamagwa SDA.
Boys’ Competition: Kisii School’s Unstoppable Run
Split into two pools, the boys’ tournament saw fierce competition.
In Pool A, Nyanchwa dominated early, crushing Matunwa 27-04 and Riondong’a 22-03.
Pool B, however, belonged to Kisii School, who opened with a 42-14 rout of Bobaracho, followed by a 23-04 win over Amasago and an 18-05 victory against Ibeno.
The semifinals intensified the stakes: Nyanchwa dispatched Bobaracho 21-08, while Kisii School overwhelmed Riondong’a 33-05.
In the final, Kisii School’s precision and teamwork proved too much for Nyanchwa, securing the championship with a 31-15 scoreline.
Girls’ Competition: Kereri Shines Bright
The girls’ event was equally thrilling. In Pool A, Kereri Girls set the pace with a 19-02 win over Nyankuru and an 18-04 victory against Nyamware, while Nyamagwa SDA topped Nyankuru 15-00.
Pool B saw Bobaracho edge Nyaura 06-05 and Riondong’a 07-04, with Nyaura outscoring Irungu 11-05.
The semifinals featured Kereri dismantling Nyaura 16-4 and Nyamagwa SDA narrowly overcoming Bobaracho 6-5.
The final showcased Kereri’s superiority, as they powered past Nyamagwa 23-9 to claim the title.
Kisii School’s boys dazzled with relentless energy, while Nyanchwa impressed with their pool-stage dominance.
For the girls, Kereri’s consistency and Nyamagwa’s grit stood out, making the tournament a celebration of regional talent.
With Kisii School and Kereri Girls crowned champions, the Kisii Central Sub-County Tournament showcased the depth of handball prowess in the region.
Both teams now look ahead to the KSSSA Kisii County stages, carrying their momentum forward.
