On Thursday, Kenya made history when it became the first country to provide direct flights between Mombasa and Dubai.
Following the opening of Kenya Airways at Moi International Airport, which was presided over by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the first plane of Kenya Airways took off.
The DP made the observation that the event was historic due to the fact that it is an innovative strategy to maintain millions of jobs in the tourist industry.

The Deputy President was joined by many other politicians, including the Cabinet Secretary for Transport Kipchumba Murkomen, his counterpart from Tourism Penina Malonza, the Governor of Mombasa Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir, Gideon Munagro from Kilifi, and Andrew Mwadime from Taita Taveta.
After the debut of KQ’s direct flights, the price of a ticket to travel from Mombasa to Dubai will range anywhere from Sh37,925 to more than that.
Kenya Airways, the country’s main airline, has announced that the route would be serviced four times each week, namely on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
KQ recommended travelers to purchase their tickets in advance since the discounted rate of Sh37,925 would only be available for a period of 5 days after the start of the service.
