Otieno Lewis Omondi from St Peters Mumias Boys and Fwaro Makokha Robinson from Christ the King Primary School are the top candidates in the 2022 KCPE Results examination.

The two pupils scored 431 marks each out of the possible 500, to emerge top candidates.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu says that this is an improvement from the 2021 exam where the best candidate got 428 marks.

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results

During a speech at Mtihani House, Machogu revealed that more than 1.2 million pupils sat for national exams, which started on November 18.

The mark of the highest candidate rose from 428 in 2021 to 431 in 2022. “We are very impressed with the KCPE examination class of 2022 for performing well and raising the standards of the main performance”, Machogu said.

CS Ezekiel Machogu has asked parents to access their children’s KCPE results by sending their full index number followed by KCPE to 20076.

“The head of state in keeping his promise directed that the Junior secondary school be domiciled in the existing Primary schools. This means that parents will now not lose sleep over finding places in secondary schools”,Machogu said.

CS Machogu also noted that the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment will not be used for placement of learners in Junior Secondary School

Further the CS said that Grade 6 candidates who sat for the inaugural Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will receive their reports by January 16, 2023

Candidates: 620,965 (50. 32%) were boys while 612,887 (49.67%) were girls, an indication that Kenya has achieved gender parity at Primary School levels.

CS Machogu applauded 39 candidates with special needs who scored 400 marks and above, compared with only two in 2021.

“All the candidates whose results I am releasing today, will be admitted to Form 1, under the 100% transition policy”, Machogu noted

Following the directive of His Excellency President William Ruto that the Junior Secondary School (JSS) be domiciled in primary school.

In the meantime, 30,550 new teacher recruits (9,000 on permanent and pensionable terms and 21,550 teacher interns) will be posted to handle the JSS before the beginning of term 2023.
