
Kakamega County Government will sponsor Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen through his secondary education, Governor Fernandes Barasa has announced.
Otieno who sat his examinations at St. Peters Mumias Boys Primary in Kakamega county emerged top of the just-released KCPE results. He scored 431 marks out of the possible 500
The candidates who scored between 400 and 500 marks were 9,443; 300-399 marks (307,756), 200-299 marks (619,593), 100-199 marks (296,336) and 1-99 marks (724).
There were 2,417 special needs candidates who wrote the 2022 KCPE exam.
Those who scored between 400 and 500 marks under this category were seven, 300-399 marks (296), 200-299 marks (838), 100-199 marks (1,270) and 1-99 marks (six).
A total of 1,233,852 candidates sat the 2022 KCPE exam.
Speaking after the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the KCPE results, Governor Barasa congratulated St. Peters Mumias Boys Primary for placing Kakamega county on the national map and for producing a joint top candidate in the national examinations.
“Good academic results are a result of deliberate efforts from teachers, parents, learners and the community. Congratulations St. Peters Mumias Boys Primary for placing Kakamega County on the National map, by producing the best student. It was a pleasure joining you for the celebrations. The County Government of Kakamega will sponsor the top student, Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen, through his Secondary Education,” the county head posted
Otieno Lewis Omondi from St Peters Mumias Boys and Fwaro Makokha Robinson from Christ the King Primary School were the top candidates in the 2022 KCPE Results examination.
The two pupils scored 431 marks each out of the possible 500, to emerge top candidates.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said this is an improvement from the 2021 exam where the best candidate got 428 marks.
During a speech at Mtihani House, Machogu revealed that more than 1.2 million pupils sat for national exams, which started on November 18.
The mark of the highest candidate rose from 428 in 2021 to 431 in 2022. “We are very impressed with the KCPE examination class of 2022 for performing well”, Machogu said.
