NYAMIRA,Kenya Jan 26- North Mugirango MP, Joash Nyamoko, has accused Dr. Fred Matiang’i, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary, of being the cause of his political struggles.
In an interview with John Kebati on Ndizi TV News on February 25th, 2023, Nyamoko claimed that Matiang’i faked a police raid in February and frustrated his campaign during the August 2022 elections.
Nyamoko acknowledged that Matiang’i is a public servant who has risen through the ranks, but he insisted that Matiang’i started misusing his power when he became the Chair of all Cabinet Secretaries and head of implementation of national government projects in 2019.

Nyamoko claimed that Matiang’i frustrated William Ruto and Gachagua, and he used his power to ensure that Hon. Atebe won the North Mugirango seat on the UPA Party ticket, a dream that never came to happen.
Nyamoko, who is the chairman of Gusii MPs Caucus and the only UDA Mp in Nyamira County, also criticized Lawyer Danstan Omari, who is representing Matiang’i.
Nyamoko said that Omari is just playing politics and Matiang’i should have hired a good lawyer.
According to Joash Nyamoko, Omari has not been able to effectively represent Matiang’i and has instead been focused on playing politics.
Nyamoko also revealed that he met Matiang’i with Nakuru Town West Constituency MP, Hon Samuel Arama, and resolved their differences.
However, Nyamoko claimed that no one is interested in him despite his downfalls.
Matiang’i, who started as the ICT minister in 2013, rose to the limelight through his hard work in bringing digital reforms.
He was later appointed as the Education CS, where he brought radical changes by cracking exam Cartels.
Matiang’i was later confirmed as the Interior Cabinet Secretary and given more power by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2019.
Nyamoko’s accusations against Matiang’i are likely to escalate the tension between him and Matiang’i supporters.
Dr. Fred Matiang’i has not responded to Joash Nyamoko’s claims.
