Jeremiah Kioni, secretary-general of the Jubilee Party, was open about former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s intentions to step down as chairman of the Azimio la Umoja Council.
On Tuesday, December 20, in an interview with K24 TV, Kioni insisted that there were no intentions for the former Head of State to leave the party.
He said that media rumors about Uhuru’s anticipated departure were propaganda and that the only sources of formal communication would be the party or the former President directly via his own channels.
Even though he was an official representative of Jubilee, he said, he was not in a position to provide any information on the intended departure.
Kioni clarified that Azimio was not involved in any disagreements and that what was being seen as problems was really a healthy disagreement that would arise in any party.
Kioni, who is in the opposition, said that even if the alliance won the election, Azimio’s problems would continue to exist.
