Inua Jamii Cash Transfers for vulnerable individuals in Kenya will be disbursed before the salaries of public servants beginning June 1, 2023.
President William Ruto has announced that Inua Jamii Cash Transfers for vulnerable individuals in Kenya will be disbursed before the salaries of public servants beginning June 1, 2023.
The President made the announcement during the Social Protection Conference 2023 at Kenya School of Government on April 4, 2023.
During his speech, President Ruto emphasized the need for the government to prioritize vulnerable individuals in society, including orphans, persons living with disabilities, and the elderly.
He noted that the government has a moral obligation to provide social protection to its citizens, and it is grossly unjust to delay support even for a moment.
“I know for a long time, we have had Inua Jamii money disbursed 3, up to 7 months after their due. The instructions have given the Cabinet and Treasury have to undertake, and that from June 1, before salaries are paid, Inua Jamii cash transfer for the vulnerable will be paid,” said President Ruto.
The President further noted that the government has a duty to care for the vulnerable and that failure to do so would result in harsh judgment from society. He urged government officials to prioritize the needs of vulnerable individuals and to ensure that their welfare is protected.
The Inua Jamii Beneficiaries receive Ksh 2000 Monthly.
President Ruto also announced that the government will make the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) contribution affordable for Kenyans to increase health insurance coverage. Beginning later this year, contributions will be lowered from the current minimum amount of Ksh. 500 to Ksh. 300.
The President noted that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right of every Kenyan and that the government is committed to making it accessible to all citizens.
He urged Kenyans to take advantage of the reduced NHIF contributions and enroll in the program to enjoy quality healthcare services.
The move by the government to prioritize the needs of vulnerable individuals in society is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of millions of Kenyans.
With Inua Jamii Cash Transfers being disbursed before the salaries of public servants, vulnerable individuals will be able to access essential services such as healthcare and education, improving their lives and enabling them to live with dignity.
Inua Jamii Cash Transfer April March 2023 Payment
Several Kenyans who rely on the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer program are yet to receive their payments for the months of November and December 2022, as well as January, February, and March 2023. The delayed disbursement of funds has left many vulnerable individuals in a state of uncertainty and financial distress.
The Inua Jamii Cash Transfer program, which is part of the government’s social protection initiative, provides a monthly stipend to elderly, disabled, and orphaned individuals. The program aims to alleviate poverty and improve the living standards of vulnerable members of society.
The Inua Jamii Cash Transfer program, a key component of Kenya’s social protection initiative, is facilitated through six contracted payment service providers (PSPs). These include KCB Bank, Equity Bank, KWFT Bank, Post Bank, Cooperative Bank, and National Bank.
The PsPs play a critical role in the disbursement of funds to the beneficiaries of the program. They are responsible for verifying the eligibility of beneficiaries, processing payments, and ensuring that the funds reach the intended recipients in a timely manner.
The use of multiple PsPs has helped to ensure that beneficiaries have access to a wide range of payment options and can receive their payments through the provider of their choice. This has helped to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the program, while also promoting financial inclusion and access to banking services among the beneficiaries.
