Together, they discussed various avenues for supporting and harnessing Kassim’s remarkable abilities while adhering to the necessary policy, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
Expressing his admiration for the young prodigy, Cabinet Secretary Owalo took to his Facebook page to share his thoughts: “Brilliant. Amazing.
This young man, Kassim, arrived readymade. He’s a natural broadcaster, a digital content developer, and a refreshing role model. How do I reach him? Please tell Kassim that I am looking for him if you know how to find him.”
Kassim Mohammed, a native of Kitutu Chache South and a member of a polygamous family, had humble beginnings.
He attended Jogoo Primary School before continuing his education at Kiogo Mixed Day Secondary School in Kitutu Chache South. In 2021, Kassim completed his KCSE exams, achieving a D+ grade.
Currently, Kassim is pursuing a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism at Elgon View College, where he is in his second year.
Although his dream was to study at Kenya Mass Communication, his background led him to join Elgon View College instead.
Kassim’s passion for journalism dates back to 2010 when he was listening to a World Cup match on Radio Citizen.
The late Mohammed Juma Njuguna, a prominent commentator, served as his inspiration, leading Kassim to start imitating him.
During his time in high school, Kassim established a journalism club and would often deliver news reports to his fellow students during parade grounds.
His first taste of live commentary came during the Charles Matoke Tournament at Nyaore, where his exceptional talent impressed the audience.
Since then, Kassim has been honing his skills, commentating at various venues. One notable occasion was at Gusii Stadium during Shabana FC games, where his lively commentary resonated with the spectators.
Kassim was given the opportunity to showcase his talent alongside Charles Kangwana during a match between Shabana FC and Darajani Gogo FC in South C, Nairobi.
Shabana FC emerged victorious with a resounding 3-0 win, and Kassim’s commentary added an extra layer of excitement to the game.
