She further noted that she executed her duties diligently under difficult circumstances
“Since joining the commission, I have dispensed my duties diligently, meticulously and put a spirited effort in helping the commission deal with corporate governance issues under very difficult circumstances. As vice chairperson, I always advocated for fair
treatment and equal opportunity for all staff,” Cherera said.
Cherera said she made the decision in good faith after extensive consultations with family members and lawyers
“However, my cumulative actions done in good faith are unfortunately misjudged and
misinterpreted. After careful consideration of the current events at the commission
and with consultation with my family and lawyers, I accept that my stay at the
commission is no longer tenable and therefore choose to vacate,” Cherera added
She expressed his gratitude for the opportunity he had been accorded to serve in the position
“I sincerely thank His Excellency Hon. Dr. Wiliam Samoei Arap Ruto, The President of
the Republic of Kenya for the opportunity acorded to me to serve the republic. God Bless Kenya,” Cherera said.
Last week On Friday IEBC commissioner Justice Nyang’aya resigned saying he made the decision in the best interests of the country as it supersedes individual interests.
The two other IEBC Commissioners are Irene Masit and Francis Wanderi.
