Tinderet MP Hon Julius Kibiwot Melly has bounced back as the chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education.
Hon Melly was elected unopposed as the chair of the crucial house team during the committee’s first meeting this afternoon. He will be deputized by his Malava counterpart Hon Malulu Injendi, who was equally elected unopposed.
Hon Melly in the last parliament was elected the chairperson of the committee, a position he held for close to three years until July, 2020 when he was replaced by Hon Florence Mutua, who at the time was Busia County Woman Representative.
Speaking after his election, Hon Melly thanked his colleagues for settling for him, noting that he has all that it takes to lead.
“The fact that I have no competitor for the post is in itself a sign of confidence in my leadership. I served with dedication and commitment in the past in the same position, and I will do my work with the same vigour,” he said.
He noted that Education is a crucial docket that affects every Kenyan , pointing out the clamour to change the curriculum as some of the issues members of the public expect the committee to offer leadership.

“ I served as the Education committee chair in the last parliament. In the 11th parliament I was the Vice chair of the same committee. My experience will come in handy. We will work with all the members of the house team and stakeholders in the sector to address the challenges we have,” added Hon Melly.
