Harambee Stars on Thursday night emerged victorious with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Qatar at the Al Janoub Stadium on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
The opening goal came in the 20th minute when Kenneth Muguna’s precise corner kick found Joseph Okumu’s head, and Okumu executed a skillful header that landed squarely in the back of Qatar’s net, giving Kenya the early lead.
However, Qatar was not to be outdone, and they swiftly responded in the 34th minute when Hassan Al-Haydos calmly converted a penalty, leveling the score at 1-1.
As the second half got underway, Harambee Stars made strategic substitutions to bolster their performance.
In the 46th minute, Ayub Timbe was introduced, injecting fresh energy into the squad. Later in the 70th minute, Amos Nondi took the field, replacing Masud Juma.
