Shabana supporters have appealed to the Football Kenya Federation for assistance in protecting them from the exploitative tactics employed by opposing teams.
A segment of Shabana FC enthusiasts has issued a threat to “boycott” their upcoming away match against Gusii FC at Gusii Stadium, citing exploitative practices.
Gusii FC has disclosed the gate fees for Sunday’s National Super League encounter, setting the price for a VIP seat at Ksh200, while the terraces are priced at Ksh100.
However, certain Shabana fans are suspicious of the pricing scheme in advance of the match to be held at Gusii Stadium.
It appears that Gusii Football Club aims to capitalize on the loyalty of Shabana Football Club fans, as reports indicate that the management of Gusii FC has informed their own fans that they will enjoy free entry, while only Shabana fans will be required to pay.
This blatant exploitation of Shabana fans is deeply concerning.
Normally, Gusii FC charges Ksh100 for VIP seats and Ksh50 for terraces during their home matches.
Shabana FC supporters have raised concerns about this sudden increase in ticket prices, viewing it as an attempt by Gusii FC to take advantage of them.
Gusii FC is capitalizing on the loyalty of Shabana fans, who are fervently supporting their team’s quest for promotion to the Kenya Premier League (KPL) next season.
While Gusii FC typically charges Ksh100 for VIP seats when playing against other teams, their gate collections barely reach Ksh10,000.
However, when facing Shabana, they have inflated the figures, aiming to collect 20 times their usual gate revenue, amounting to Ksh200,000.

Elkanah Moriasi, a devoted Shabana fan, expressed his outrage to local media outlets, stating, “No more exploitation! Gusii FC fans cannot use their official social media platform to insult Shabana, while simultaneously seeking to exploit us during the Sunday Derby.”
Stephen Kiama, the Organizing Secretary of Shabana, voiced his frustration, stating that the fans are tired of being overcharged simply because of their unwavering support for the team.
“Why should our loyal fans be penalized for supporting us, solely due to our ambitions for promotion?” pondered Kiama.
