Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on February 20, hosted a section of Azimio rebel MPs at his Harambee House Annex office.
The leaders, led by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, held consultations with the Deputy President on the region’s development.
The 8 leaders snubbed Azimio’s February 17 rallies in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
“The Kenya Kwanza Administration is for inclusivity and will strive to always work with all leaders no matter their political affiliation.” Gachagua said.
The Deputy President pledged to work with the leaders regardless of their political affiliation.
“President William Samoei Ruto has opened the door for those ready to work with the Administration because his sole interest is to ensure development in every part of the country.” Gachagua added.
The rebels MPs, according to Gachagua pledged their support to Kenya Kwanza Government.
He said:”The leaders have pledged their support for the Government and we welcome them to work with us as we serve the people.”
Bonchari Member of Parliament who was elected on UPA party which is affiliated to the former Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i was among the Gusii leaders who paid a visit to Harambee House Annex.
West Mugirango Constituency MP Hon Stephen Mogaka said the Gusii leaders have rresolved o work closely with the current leadership and bring development to the region which is perceived as an opposition area.
“The DP has assured us of continued support from the government and also benefit from the state appointments as other regions.” Mogaka said.
However, Gachagua in a viral clip was heard saying the Kenya Kwanza government is like a company with shares, and those with many shares will receive state appointments first.
On February 17, Azimio Leaders led by Raila Odinga held a series of rallies in Nyamira and Kisii Counties.
The leaders castigated the Kenya Kwanza administration for humiliating the former Cs Fred Matiang’i.
“Matiangi served this nation for 10 years. Its quite wrong to treat him as a criminal .” Odinga said.
Kitutu Masaba Constituency MP Clive Gisairo snubbed the Harambee House Annex meeting. Hon Gisairo on February 17 was among the leaders who attended Azimio Baraza meeting in Nyamira and Kisii.

- Charles Onchoke ( Bonchari, UPA)
Other leaders present were National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, Alfa Miruka (Bomachoge Chache, UDA), Japhet Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North, UDA), Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango, UDA), Essy Okenyuri (Nominated Senator, UDA) and Gloria Orwoba (Nominated Senator, UDA).
