Excellency Governors led by the Chair, Council of Governors H.E Anne Waiguru Wednesday held a roundtable meeting with Ms. Amina Mohammed, United Nations Deputy Secretary General on climate action at the devolved level.
The discussions were centred around the role of County Governments who are at the Frontline of climate action. This is in the run up to the 27th conference of Parties to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The meeting also discussed strategies towards building resilience of communities to cope with the impacts of climate change through adaptation and mitigation.

It was resolved that a working member Group between the UN and CoG will be formed to follow through implementation of the key resolutions from the meeting.

Governors Paul Simba Arati ( Kisii County, Susan Kihika ( Nakuru County, Gladys Wanga ( Homabay County), Fernando’s bahasa ( Kakamega County) were among the Governors Present.
Earlier on, President William Ruto today held talks with the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed at State House, Nairobi.

The President and Ms amina Mohammed discussed Kenya’s role as an anchor State of peace in the Horn of Africa.
They acknowledged that economies and livelihoods globally have been affected by the impact of climate change, while the region has suffered famine and prolonged drought as a result.
President Ruto said: “Kenya is happy to work with the UN on security matters and issues brought by climate change, which have had an impact on many economies.”
He called on the international community to play its part in ensuring countries resolve their disputes peacefully.
President William Ruto is expected also today to attend the National Launch of Safaricom Ethiopia Friendship Square in Addis Ababa.
The Head of State has been invited to the event as a guest of Honor, along with his counterpart, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed.
Safarifom CEO Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom Ethiopia CEO Anwar Soussa, and Safaricom Ethiopia chairman Michael Joseph will also be Present.
