The program had been scrapped four years ago, with the funds diverted by the previous administration.
However, through a supplementary budget, Governor Arati ensured that the bursary program was revived to support the education of needy students.
During the launch, Governor Arati expressed his gratitude to the Honorable Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) for their efforts in making the revival of the bursary fund possible.
He highlighted the significance of education as a tool for social and economic mobility, stating that it serves as a worthy equalizer for everyone.
To ensure transparency and prevent any potential misuse of funds, each electoral ward has been allocated an average of 3 million shillings from the bursary fund.
The allocation and disbursement of funds have been carried out in a transparent manner.
To minimize the risk of fraud or mismanagement, the money allocated to beneficiaries will be sent directly to the respective 1,250 schools.
Benefiting students will receive acknowledgement vouchers, which they will present at their schools. The schools’ accounts will then verify the details before issuing official receipts.
Governor Arati challenged the benefiting students to work diligently and strive for impressive academic performance.
He emphasized that the true value of the bursary program can only be realized through the students’ commitment to their studies.
