The Countrywide exercise was set to run for one month and aimed at opening and changing bank accounts for senior elderly, people with severe disabilities, and orphans.
The National Government extended the excericse for 14 months.
The six contracted banks are, KCB, Equity, Cooperative, Post Bank, National Bank, and KWFT. National Bank and KWFT were brought on board to have beneficiaries have varied choices.
Before the six banks were onboarded, they signed an agreement with the government that they have agents in all sub-counties and close to the beneficiaries.
The banks have to ensure that the beneficiaries do not travel for more than six kilometers to receive their cash.
All beneficiaries who by the end of January would have not renewed their bank accounts will automatically be suspended from the program.
Early this month, the government released Ksh 8.6 billion for the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer and NICHE complimentary programmes.
The beneficiaries and caregivers yet to verify their accounts are advised to pick introduction letters from Sub-County Offices and present them to the bank of their choice before closure of business of 31st January 2023.
