In a surprising turn of events, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come out to claim that he was the one who rescued former Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i.
This revelation has led to a lot of speculation and confusion as two other politicians had earlier claimed to have played a role in rescuing Matiang’i.
Gachagua made this revelation while speaking during the homecoming of Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.
He accused the “handshake brothers” of using Matiang’i to harass Kenyans, including then Deputy President William Ruto.

According to Gachagua, when Matiang’i alleged that police had raided his home, the handshake brothers abandoned him.
Matiang’i tried calling Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, but no one picked up his phone.
It was then that Matiang’i called Gachagua, and that’s when he got help from the deputy president.
This claim has been met with skepticism, given that just two weeks ago, North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko had claimed that he was the one who intervened, leading to the dropping of the case by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) against Matiang’i.
The senator of Nyamira County, Okong’o Omogeni also claimed that he and other Azimio lawyers had played a role in rescuing Matiang’i.
This begs the question: who is telling the truth?
The former Interior CS, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, has since deactivated his Facebook and Twitter accounts, making it difficult for him to respond to these allegations.
Many Kenyans are now waiting to see what his response will be and to find out the truth behind these conflicting claims.
Some Kenyans have taken to social media to express their views on the matter.
Many have criticized the politicians for playing politics with serious issues such as harassment and intimidation by the government.
