Shabana FC’s promotion to the FKF-Premier League on Sunday sparked excitement and pride among the Omogusii community.
After a lengthy 17-year absence from the Premier League, the club’s return has been met with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Former CEC Sports Kisii County, Duke Mainga Echate, recently shared his thoughts through his official Facebook page on the club’s progress and provided valuable insights for its future.
The celebrations began last Sunday when Shabana FC secured their promotion to the FKF-Premier League. Kenya Kwanza faction leader Ezekiel Machogu extended his support by hosting a luncheon for the team and management at Bomas of Kenya.
During the event, Machogu presented a generous sum of KES 500,000 to the club.
However, the presence of former FKF President Sam Nyamweya raised eyebrows among those who believe he may have been involved in defrauding the club.
The following day, the Azimio Faction, led by Governor Simba Arati, further demonstrated their commitment to Shabana FC by hosting a dinner party at Kempinski Hotel.
Governor Arati made an exciting announcement, revealing that an investor is prepared to contribute KES 20 million to the club.

Furthermore, if Shabana FC clinches victory in the NSL league, an additional KES 10 million will be provided.
Duke Mainga Echate, a prominent figure in Kisii County and the former CEC Sports, expressed his delight at Shabana FC’s achievements and the unity demonstrated within the community.

Recognizing the significance of this moment, Echate highlighted the need to revive the club and restore its former glory.
He emphasized that individuals joining the club now should not face unwarranted scrutiny, as it is natural for people to associate themselves with success.
Echate stated, “Before you succeed, itabidi tu umejitegemea kiasi,” conveying the importance of self-reliance on the path to success.
While celebrating the club’s accomplishments, Echate also raised important concerns regarding the welfare of the players and their families.
He recalled the tragic passing of Evans Obutu, a talented Shabana player who died shortly after sustaining an injury on the field. Obutu’s family has endured significant hardships, with his sick wife now in a dire state of misery.
To prevent such circumstances in the future, Echate advocated for comprehensive health coverage under a reliable NHIF plan for all Shabana players, their wives, and children.
Additionally, Echate urged the avoidance of political interference in the affairs of the club. He criticized the notion of making a politician the patron of the club and suggested instead appointing a non-partisan community leader with a reputable character.
Echate believes that such a choice would attract support from all corners and emphasized that every shilling and every fan, including those who cheer and depart, are crucial to the team’s success.
Drawing from his own experience as the former Minister for Sports in Kisii County, Echate shed light on the issue of the club’s registration.
He revealed that during his tenure, he encountered significant difficulties in locating Shabana FC’s certificate of registration.
This raised questions about the club’s current registration status, whether it remains a community club, or if changes have been made.
Echate stressed the importance of unveiling this information to the public, preferably during the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
He clarified that without the necessary requirements, it is not feasible for the County Government to allocate funds to sponsor the club, urging individuals not to be deceived
