Doris Donya Aburi, the Woman Representative for Kisii County, has urged certain local leaders to refrain from using the local population to engage in power struggles, as it resulted in the loss of three lives during the recent Saba Saba protests.
Speaking at the 7th Donya Charity Mission event in Magenche ward, Bomachoge Borabu constituency, Kisii County, Aburi expressed her concern about the violent demonstrations that occurred in various parts of the county, something unprecedented in many years.
These remarks were made in light of the directive by Kithure Kindiki, the Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security, who called upon all citizens to maintain law and order.

He also emphasized that those acting contrary to this order would be dealt with decisively within the bounds of the constitution.
“I am deeply saddened by violent demonstrations because they result in the loss of innocent lives and cause injuries, particularly when those in positions of power exploit individuals for their own personal conflicts,” commented Aburi.
She vowed to champion the rights of the residents through appropriate channels and urged all elected leaders to utilize the authority entrusted to them by the people to represent them effectively in the two houses of government.
Aburi expressed her disappointment that innocent residents not only lose their lives but also suffer the loss of businesses and property, while elected leaders have the means to voice their concerns through motions in the legislative assembly.
She commended the residents of some regions in the country for engaging in peaceful demonstrations and encouraged them to hold their leaders accountable for the motions passed, particularly the recent finance bill.
Timothy Ogugu, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Magenche ward, called for peaceful demonstrations in accordance with the constitution. He appealed to security personnel, including the police, to provide sufficient security during such events.
Despite the call for countrywide demonstrations by Azimio leader Raila Odinga this Wednesday, the Kenya Kwanza government has reiterated that no one will be allowed to vandalize property or disrupt peace during these events.
Aburi highlighted several challenges facing Magenche, including the scarcity of clean water, especially after the rainy season, due to inadequate storage facilities and the absence of piped water.
She also mentioned the high incidence of insecurity in the region, cases of gender-based violence, and incidents of defilement.
