Nyamira, Kenya, March 21- Dr Ombati Mokua, Nyamira Health Minister Responds to MP Samuel Arama’s Allegations of Health Crisis in Nyamira County
MP Samuel Arama’s recent comments regarding the state of healthcare in Nyamira County have caused quite a stir, with the county’s Health Minister responding to his allegations of a health crisis.
According to Arama, the county’s health system is currently in crisis, with issues such as a lack of insurance and oxygen for the county ambulance, a shortage of medicine at the county hospital, and not enough personnel to operate the CT scan machine.
Arama, who is eyeing the governor’s seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections, promised to rescue the situation once elected as governor.

However, in response to Arama’s comments, the Nyamira County Health Minister, Dr. Timothy Ombati, called his remarks “baseless, malicious, and out to taint the good image of Nyamira County Government.”
Dr. Ombati went on to state that he had conducted a fact-finding mission at the hospital and found that all the services Arama alluded to as unavailable in the hospital were baseless.
In fact, the CT scan machine was found to be in good condition and was serving a patient at the time of the Health Minister’s visit.
Additionally, all eight ambulance vehicles had active insurance policies and were in good shape to offer the necessary ambulatory services.
The Nyamira County hospital also manufactures more than enough oxygen that it supplies to other parts of the region, according to Dr. Ombati.
Dr. Ombati concluded that the MP’s comments were just a guesswork intended to taint the name of the hospital.
The facility is currently undergoing a major renovation that will give it a new picture.
While the MP’s comments have sparked a debate about the state of healthcare in Nyamira County, it appears that the Health Minister’s response has provided a more accurate picture of the situation on the ground.
